DiMambro brings over 13 years of competitive cheerleading coaching experience to the Panthers, a program renowned for its excellence with 14 Massachusetts State Championships.

A Hanson resident and former varsity cheerleader herself — including serving as captain during her senior year at Abington High School — DiMambro earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and her MBA in Finance from Southern New Hampshire University. She went on to cheer at the collegiate level for SNHU. Her passion for the sport, however, never left the gym.

Since 2017, DiMambro has served as an All Star Head Coach, earning USASF Certification at Levels 1–6 and leading teams to national championship rankings at prestigious events including Cheerleading Worlds, The Summit, NCA, and Cheersport Nationals. She also served as President of the Abington Youth Cheerleading program from 2021 to 2024, where she grew the program from 70 to 130 athletes in just two seasons. Most recently, she has been Head Coach at A-List Athletics MA in Weymouth.

“Savannah brings an extraordinary combination of competitive coaching experience, deep ties to our community, and a genuine passion for developing student-athletes. Her track record of growing programs and achieving results at the highest levels of the sport makes her an outstanding fit for the Whitman-Hanson Varsity Cheer family. We are thrilled to welcome her to the Panthers coaching staff and look forward to a tremendous season ahead.”

— Bob Rodgers, Athletic Director, Whitman-Hanson Regional High School

DiMambro expressed her enthusiasm for taking the helm of the storied Panthers program:

“I am incredibly excited and honored to have the opportunity to coach the Whitman-Hanson cheerleaders. Cheerleading has always been a huge part of my life, and my experience, passion, and dedication to athlete development have truly led me to this moment. I look forward to building a positive, competitive, and hardworking program where athletes can grow not only in skill, but also in confidence, leadership, and teamwork. WHITMAN-HANSON ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME

2026 CLASS OF INDUCTEES ANNOUNCED

Induction Ceremony: October 4, 2026 • Pembroke Country Club 5pm

The Whitman-Hanson Regional High School Athletic Department is proud to announce the 2026 Class of inductees into the Whitman-Hanson Athletic Hall of Fame. This year’s class represents the finest tradition of Panther athletics, honoring student athletes, coaches, a championship team, and a devoted community contributor. The induction ceremony will be held on October 4, 2026, at Pembroke Country Club.  Tickets will go on sale in June.

STUDENT ATHLETES

Chris Colclough — Class of 1987 | Football, Wrestling, Track & Field

One of the most decorated multi-sport athletes in Whitman-Hanson history, Chris Colclough earned 11 varsity letters across football, wrestling, and track and field, capturing five league championships, four captaincies, three MVPs, four All-League selections, and three All-Scholastic honors. He was named WATD Player of the Year and WATD Athlete of the Year, was selected for the Shriners Game, and compiled an undefeated dual-meet wrestling record with a Marshfield Holiday Tournament Championship (Outstanding Wrestler), Sectional Championship (Outstanding Wrestler) and 2 state-place finishes. Chris went on to play football and track at UMass Amherst and later served as a Selectman for the Town of Hanson, president and head coach of Hanson Youth Football (winning three of four Super Bowls), and an assistant coach at Whitman-Hanson for seven years.

Mike Cronin — Class of 1967–68 | Football

Mike Cronin was a standout Co-Captain of the 1967–68 varsity football team whose senior season numbers were remarkable: 48 catches for 784 yards and 9 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, and 64 points scored. Over his two-year career he totaled 1,071 receiving yards, 71 receptions, 20 interceptions, and 92 points, and returned 43 punts for 602 yards including two touchdowns. He earned All-Scholastic honors from the Brockton Enterprise, Herald Traveler, Boston Globe, and Patriot Ledger, was named to the Old Colony League All-Star Team on both offense and defense, and was selected for the prestigious Harry Agganis All-Star Game. After college, Mike devoted 40 years as Program Director at the Colorado Boys Ranch, a nationally recognized residential psychiatric facility for troubled youth, earning the John Evans Award as Youth Worker of the Year.

Michael Pakalnis — Class of 1983 | Football, Baseball, Basketball

Michael Pakalnis was a multi-sport standout who led the Panthers to a 10–0 regular season record in 1982 as

starting quarterback, earning Boston Globe Division 2 Player of the Year honors along with All-Scholastic recognition from the Boston Globe and Brockton Enterprise and a Shriners Game selection. He was a Patriot League and Enterprise All-Star in both 1981 and 1982. In baseball, Michael was a four-year varsity starter and 1983 team captain, earning the Hardie Pearce Award as OCL League MVP along with All-Star honors in his final two seasons. He went on to Harvard University, where he played varsity baseball all four years, was named All-Ivy League as a junior and senior, was team captain as a senior, and earned All-New England honors in his final year.

Devin Petta — Class of 2009 | Soccer

Devin Petta is the second all-time leading scorer in Whitman-Hanson soccer history, ranking just behind fellow Hall of Famer Lauren Bonavita with a career total of 103 goals and 44 assists for 147 points — including a remarkable 39-goal senior season. A four-year starter at striker and two-year captain, Devin was a cornerstone of teams that compiled a 73–10–1 record, won league championships in each of her four years, and were ranked as high as Top 5 nationally. She earned All-Scholastic honors from the Brockton Enterprise, Quincy Patriot Ledger, Boston Herald, and Boston Globe for three consecutive years, was selected to the All Eastern Mass and All State teams, and was ultimately designated an All American. Devin went on to Northeastern University on a full scholarship, where she broke the school’s freshman goal-scoring record and was named Rookie and Player of the year. Her soccer career was ended there by three ACL injuries. However, she still holds the record for quickest hat trick.

Emily Trapp — Basketball

Emily Trapp left Whitman-Hanson as its all-time leading scorer (1,599 points) and rebounder (815), a record-setting legacy that speaks for itself. A three-time All-Scholastic and two-year team captain, the forward-center capped her career by averaging 18 points and 8 rebounds per game as she led the Panthers to a perfect 16–0 record in Patriot League play — one of three league championships she was part of over the course of her career. Brockton Enterprise Player of the Year in girls basketball, Emily also competed in the volleyball program,. Her head coach Jim Daley, who coached varsity basketball for 30 years, called her “the finest offensive player I have coached.” Emily went on to continue her basketball career at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y.

Cortney Kelly — Class of 2001 | Soccer, Basketball, Track & Field

Cortney (Kelly) Russell was a force of nature throughout her four years as a three-sport athlete, leaving an indelible mark on soccer, basketball, and track and field. As the floor general of the basketball team, she helped deliver a league championship under Coach Jim Daley, earning her reputation as a composed and dynamic point guard. On the track, she rewrote the record books — setting school records in the 100m, 200m, 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, sprint medley, and javelin relay — while claiming league championships in both the 100m and 200m. Her excellence across all three sports earned her perennial league All-Star honors and multiple All-Scholastic selections by the Brockton Enterprise, a testament to her rare versatility and competitive drive.

Cortney carried that same fire to Fitchburg State College, where she competed in cross country, basketball, and track. She started at point guard all four years, earning the team's MVP award, Female Rookie of the Year honors, and the prestigious Leadership Award — a reflection of the impact she had both on and off the court. On the track, she broke the MCAC 100m record and claimed three consecutive league championships. Her track career came to a heartbreaking end when she tore her ACL in her final college basketball game, but her legacy as a competitor was already firmly secured.

Since hanging up her sneakers, Cortney has channeled that same dedication into a calling far greater than athletics. For over 20 years, she has devoted herself to serving students as a special education teacher, including the last nine years as the Therapeutic Classroom teacher at Central Elementary School in East Bridgewater — shaping young lives with the same heart and commitment that once defined her on the field and court.

COACHES

Coach Pat Forbes | Football & Baseball

Pat Forbes spent more than 30 years coaching football and baseball at Whitman-Hanson, winning multiple league championships in both sports and participating in multiple Super Bowls and Eastern Massachusetts Baseball tournaments. A longtime member of Bob Bancroft’s storied football staff, Pat brought the same tireless devotion to baseball — washing uniforms, building batting cages, running fundraising golf tournaments — and was regarded by peers and players alike as the complete model of a high school coach: knowledgeable, disciplined, organized, and utterly devoted to his athletes.  He guided two of his baseball teams to the sectional finals and multiple other teams to strong tournament runs.  He is the winningest baseball coach in Whitman-Hanson history with more than 300 career wins.

Mike Driscoll | Football & Track & Field

A proud alumnus of Whitman-Hanson, Mike Driscoll returned to contribute to the community that influenced him. As a student, he excelled in both football and track. His coaching career at Whitman-Hanson spanned 25 years, during which he served as an assistant coach for football and girls track and field before assuming the role of Head Coach of Football in 2011, Head Coach of Girls Indoor Track in 1997, and Outdoor Track in 2003. He received recognition as both MSTCA Coach of the Year and Boston Globe Coach of the Year in 2010. His 1999 team secured the school's inaugural Indoor Track Championship, and he went on to win four league titles in indoor track and four in outdoor track. In football, Driscoll was honored as WATD Coach of the Year in 2013 and AIFO and Patriot Ledger Coach of the Year in 2018. Known for his unwavering dedication to Whitman-Hanson, Mike Driscoll concluded a distinguished 25-year coaching career at the school.

TEAM

1965 Whitman-Hanson Football Team — Class of 1966

The 1965 Panthers made history as the first Whitman-Hanson football team to win a state championship. They swept through eight Southeastern Conference opponents unbeaten and untied, scoring 199 points while allowing just 26, and captured the Class C Championship. Under Head Coach Teahan and assistants Larson and Albrecht, the team relied on fundamentals, belief, and unit cohesion. Notable individual members included John Benson, named Quarterback of the Year by radio station WOKW, and Ken Orcutt, who went on to an outstanding football career at Northeastern University.

Ronan Tynan Tickets

From Paralympic Champion to World Stage: Irish Tenor Dr. Ronan Tynan Brings His Inspiring Story to Whitman-Hanson Benefit Concert to Support Local Student Athletes on February 7, 2026 WHITMAN, MA – When Dr. Ronan Tynan takes the stage at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School on Saturday, February 7th at 7:00 PM, audiences will witness more than just an exceptional musical performance. They'll experience the living embodiment of what determination, resilience, and refusing to accept limitations can achieve – a message that resonates powerfully with the student athletes this benefit concert will support. When Obstacles Become Opportunities Tynan's journey from adversity to international acclaim reads like an impossible dream. After losing both legs below the knee at age 20, he didn't retreat – he competed. The young Irishman went on to dominate Paralympic track and field, capturing 18 gold medals and shattering 14 world records. Not satisfied with athletic excellence alone, he became the first disabled person admitted to Ireland's National College of Physical Education, then earned his medical degree in orthopedic sports injuries. Only after conquering two careers did Tynan pursue his true passion: singing. That decision would lead him to some of the most hallowed stages and historic moments of our time. A Voice That's Moved Nations As a founding member of the Irish Tenors, Tynan's powerful tenor has provided the soundtrack to moments of both celebration and mourning for millions. He's sung at state funerals for Presidents Reagan and Bush, offered solace at 9/11 memorial services, and became a beloved presence at the World Series and America's most iconic ballparks. His emotionally charged renditions of "God Bless America" have become the gold standard, while his Irish classics transport listeners across the Atlantic. Perhaps most touching was his final gift to President George H.W. Bush – singing "Silent Night" at the president's bedside in his final hours, a moment of profound grace and humanity. An Investment in Young Athletes' Futures Every dollar raised from this intimate concert experience will directly support Whitman-Hanson's athletic programs, helping local students develop the same qualities that defined Tynan's remarkable life: perseverance, discipline, teamwork, and the courage to overcome any obstacle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oy4W0t_49bY Event Information Date: Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 7:00 PM Location: Whitman-Hanson Regional High School Tickets: https://fs17.formsite.com/WHathletics/xqqvxiezik/index All proceeds benefit Whitman-Hanson athletics programs Don't miss this rare opportunity to hear a living legend whose life story is as inspiring as his voice is unforgettable. Your exemplary behavior in the stands and unwavering support for our student-athletes has been truly commendable. Your positive presence creates an atmosphere that not only enhances the experience for everyone in attendance but, most importantly, means the world to your children as they compete. Thank you for being such outstanding ambassadors of Panther pride.

Golf Team Shows Grit in Busy Week

The Whitman-Hanson varsity golf team had an action-packed week with five matches in seven days, demonstrating remarkable resilience and consistency throughout their challenging schedule.

The Panthers opened the week with a thrilling 236-238 victory over Marshfield at Green Harbor Golf Course in a match that truly came down to the wire. Senior Captain Cam Nehiley once again led by example, earning medalist honors with an even-par 36. Senior Captain Ryan Christensen and juniors Ben Tappa and Mason Bergeron each contributed solid 39s to secure the team victory.

Following up on that success, the team faced Plymouth South at home at Ridder Farms Golf Course in another nail-biting contest, ultimately prevailing 228-234. Nehiley continued his stellar play as the low scorer with a 1-over-par 35, while junior Mason Bergeron added a strong 36. The win brought the Panthers to 3-4 on the season.

The week's most heartbreaking result came against Pembroke, as the Panthers fell just short in a 239-243 defeat at Ridder Farms. Captain Cam Nehiley fired an impressive 2-under-par 34, with juniors Matt Miller and Mason Bergeron, along with sophomore Nic Beltramini, all shooting 40s in the losing effort.

The busy stretch concluded with a 225-255 loss to a strong Duxbury squad, also at Ridder Farms. Nehiley remained the bright spot for the Panthers (2-4), posting a 2-over 38 on the back nine, while Ryan Christensen, Ben Morgan, and Nic Beltramini each shot 43s.

Looking ahead, the Panthers will attempt to return to .500 when they face East Bridgewater at Ridder Farms on Sunday afternoon.

Field Hockey: Mixed Results Against Quality Competition

The Whitman-Hanson field hockey team experienced both sides of competition this week, showcasing their offensive capabilities while also facing top-tier opposition.

The Panthers dominated their road matchup against Brockton, cruising to a convincing 9-0 victory. The offensive explosion was a true team effort, with senior forwards Abby Nash netting two goals and Tessa Feeley adding one. The junior class made significant contributions as well, with forwards Maeve Gavin, Paige Sampson, and Captain Cami Walsh each scoring twice to round out the scoring barrage.

However, the Panthers faced a much stiffer test when they hosted the Hingham Harborwomen, ultimately falling 7-0 to the highly skilled visitors. Hingham's impressive offense struck early, scoring twice in the first quarter and adding a third goal before halftime. Despite the challenging circumstances, several Panthers distinguished themselves in the defeat. Senior midfielder Shannon Balfe worked tirelessly to fend off offensive rushes while driving the ball upfield to her forwards, while junior defender Sophey Cocio was a standout on the back line, successfully carrying numerous balls out of the defensive zone. Perhaps most impressively, junior netminder Calliegh Vurpillatte made 25 saves throughout the contest, many of which extinguished multiple scoring opportunities for the talented Harborwomen.

Volleyball: Building Momentum with Strong Team Play

The Whitman-Hanson volleyball team demonstrated both their potential and their resilience this week, earning a statement victory while learning valuable lessons in a road defeat.

The Panthers bounced back impressively with a dominant 3-0 sweep of Plymouth North (25-23, 25-19, 25-19) in league play. Senior captain Brooke Steele led the charge with nine kills and eight aces, showcasing the kind of leadership expected from a team captain. Junior Emily McNaught was equally impressive, contributing six aces and 13 assists, while senior captain Leah Barnett added five aces and 12 assists. Sophomore Nguyen Vo anchored the defense with 15 digs, and senior Samantha Ransom delivered the game-winning kill from the back row to seal the victory.

Earlier in the week, the Panthers fell to Scituate on the road 1-4 (26-24, 19-25, 17-25, 20-25) in a league matchup that saw them battle hard in the opening set before ultimately succumbing to their hosts. Steele again led the Panthers with nine kills, while junior Presley Giannino added five. Vo continued her strong defensive play with nine digs, and Steele and McNaught each contributed six digs of their own. McNaught also recorded 10 assists in the effort.

With the victory over Plymouth North, Whitman-Hanson improved to 2-4 overall and in league play. The Panthers will look to build on their momentum when they host Oliver Ames in a non-league matchup on Monday.

Cross Country: Individual Excellence Shines

Both Whitman-Hanson cross country teams faced strong Hingham squads this week, with individual performances highlighting the talent within each program despite the team results.

The boys' team dropped to 0-2 on the season with a 21-36 loss to Hingham on their challenging 2.98-mile course. Senior Captain [name not provided] continued his excellent start to the season, taking first place overall for the Panthers for the second consecutive week with a time of 16:34. The scoring was rounded out by Senior Captain Luke Morse (6th place, 17:56), sophomores Jackson Delue (8th, 18:26) and Dylan Meredith (10th, 18:48), and junior Zack Geagan (11th, 18:50). The team will travel to face Marshfield Tuesday.

The girls' team also fell to 0-2 after their encounter with Hingham's strong squad. Senior Kaitlyn Howard delivered an outstanding performance, winning the race with a time of 22:09 on the 2.98-mile course. The scoring was completed by freshman Julianna Delue (6th place, 22:44), junior Lindsey Brzuszek (10th place, 22:51), junior Kaylah Randow (13th place, 23:30), and sophomore Lilly Smith (23:49). Like their male counterparts, the girls will face Marshfield in their next meet.

Girls Soccer: Defensive Strength Leads to Success

The Whitman-Hanson girls soccer team split their week's action, showing both their defensive capabilities and the fine margins that often determine results at the high school level.

The Panthers fell 1-0 to Hanover in what was described as "a tale of two halves." Despite applying strong pressure in the second half, the Panthers were unable to find the equalizer they desperately sought.

However, the team bounced back with an impressive 1-0 road victory over Plymouth North in Patriot League action. The defensive unit of Devin Olszewski, Shelby Bell, Milley Mahoney, and Calleigh Mahoney were outstanding in front of goalkeeper Addison Hughes, who earned her third shutout of the season. The lone goal came from Keira Manchester, who converted a perfectly placed feed from Elizabeth Kowlski for the game-winner.

With the victory, the Panthers improved to 2-2-1 on the season, demonstrating the kind of defensive consistency that often translates to postseason success.

Boys Soccer: Competitive Spirit Despite Results

The Whitman-Hanson boys soccer team continued to show improvement and competitive spirit this week, despite facing challenging results that don't fully reflect their growth as a team.

Against Hanover on Thursday, September 18th, the Panthers fell 3-0 in league action, dropping their league record to 0-4 and overall record to 0-5. However, the team started strongly in the first half, keeping the contest close and making things challenging for their opponents defensively. Senior Captain Cam Mackay moved to a forward position to create changes in the attack, while Dylan Fencer and Rhys Jackson were dangerous at times in their forward roles.

Earlier in the week, the Panthers battled Plymouth North on Monday, September 15th, ultimately falling 3-1 in a highly competitive league contest. The Panthers showed tremendous discipline throughout the match and managed to answer an early Plymouth North goal with a spectacular strike from Dylan Fencer, who fired a powerful shot into the bottom corner off a perfect split pass from Sid Monagari between the Plymouth North defenders. The teams went to halftime tied 1-1, but luck wasn't on Whitman-Hanson's side in the second half despite creating several quality scoring opportunities. Freshman James Sousa was particularly impressive playing in the defensive line, showing the kind of composure that bodes well for the program's future.

Most importantly, the team has continued to play with tremendous pride and determination, never giving up regardless of the circumstances. The coaching staff has noted consistent improvement and increased competitiveness game after game. The Panthers will look to continue their progress when they face Marshfield on Tuesday.

Football: Offensive Highlights in Tough Loss

The Whitman-Hanson football team (0-3) fell to Plymouth South 40-22 in a game that showcased several bright spots for the Panthers' developing program.  It was once again a huge crowd as the student body came out in their best COUNTRY CLUB attire and brought great energy to the stadium.

Offensively, the Panthers were led by the impressive aerial connection between quarterback Jack Martin and receiver Pat Ryan, who hooked up for two touchdown passes. Brody Getchell added a rushing touchdown to the scoring effort. Quinn Frazier was particularly impressive throughout the contest, securing a long kick return that directly set up one of the Panther touchdowns while also contributing valuable yards as a runner, receiver, and passer on offense—a true display of versatility.

Defensively, the Panthers were anchored by the strong play of Anthony Baker, Jackson Alexander, and Bobby Walker, who consistently made tackles and disrupted Plymouth South's offensive rhythm.

The Panthers will use their bye week next week to rest, recover, and continue preparing for the remainder of their season.
