WH Athletics News

Here is the latest news from Whitman-Hanson athletics.

• The girls soccer team will play their second round game in Dartmouth Wednesday night (tomorrow) at 6pm against the 2nd seed. The game will be played at Dartmouth Memorial Stadium. You can click here for the directions. The Lady Panthers beat Plymouth North, 1-0 in a shootout in round 1 running their unbeaten streak to 17 games.

• A second trip to Dartmouth is also in order this Sunday as our Patriot League champion cheerleaders compete in the Regionals. The girls hit the mat a little after 1pm.

• The Patriot League champion Boys and Girls Cross Country teams compete in the Eastern Mass State Championships Saturday at Franklin Park. The boys run at 9:50am while the girls race at 11:05am.

• Friday night is the last home football game of the year. This is senior night for the Panthers so come out and show your support for these hard working student athletes. Of course the season will conclude on Thanksgiving at Abington. We will have ticket information sometime next week.

We are still in the running for the $5,000 grant from Liberty Mutual but we seem to be fading. We really need your help. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes. You can take the quiz once for each email you have. So if you have a private email address and a work email address, please help us by taking it for each email you have. Just click here and then click on the blue tab that says take the quiz. (If you are taking the quiz on a Whitman-Hanson computer, you will get a security warning asking if you want to view only the webpage content which was delivered securely, you should click NO on this). After you take the quiz it will ask you to give us credit. Just type our city (Whitman) and our state (MA) then click go. It will then show you our school and you simply click credit. It will send you an email and then you just click verify and we get credit. It’s that easy.

• Winter sports will begin on Monday November 28th. Each team has held a pre-season meeting and specific tryout times will be posted on the blog by Friday of next week. Student-athletes and parents are reminded that no student can tryout if they do not have an up to date physical (a physical completed after 11/1/10) on file with the school nurse. The students must also have a completed permission slip filed with their coach. You can get the permission slip by clicking here. Once on that page, you can access the permission slip from the right hand column under athletic forms.
