Girls Soccer Blanks Duxbury


The Whitman Hanson girls soccer team improved to 2-0 with a 2-0 shutout win over league rival Duxbury. Whitman Hanson opened the scoring in the in the eighth minute when Devon Howard took a cross from Freshman Alexis Fruzzetti and placed it into the left corner. With five minutes remaining in the first half, freshman Kelsey Gilbert dribbled a Duxbury defender and fired a shot from 25 yds out that found the left side of the net. Both teams battled in the second half but neither was able to find the back of the net. Whitman Hanson defenders Alyssa Eaton, Haley Bukow and Nicole Galewski kept the potent Duxbury offense at bay for most of the game. Lily Higgins, Yasemin Civan and Casey Corr turned in outstanding performances while Lauren Clark made 5 saves in the Panthers net to earn her second shutout of the season.
