The Whitman-Hanson Boys’ track team defeated Duxbury 63-14
on Monday for the opening meet of the season. The competition was called
partway through as a result of thunder showers but the panthers performances
were enough to put them on top for the victory regardless. Outstanding
performances on the day include Chris Ryan winning the discus and 400
Hurdles, Blake Hickey winning the high jump and triple jump, as well as
the javelin crew of Luke Laubacher, Steve Rice, Cole Berthelette, and Tom Sapienza
sweeping the event. Luke had the performance of the day throwing an
amazing 167’! Newcomer Ryan Henderson also had a great day helping to win
the 4X100 relay, winning the 100 with a time of 11.7 seconds, and scoring in
the long jump. Nathan Stephansky and Jacob Roumanos also won the mile and
shot put respectively. The young team responded well on day one and now
looks ahead to the next meet vs. Scituate and Silverlake on 4/9.
