Golf Team Punches Post Season Ticket

The WH golf team earned their place in the state tournament today for only the 5th time in school history after defeating Cardinal Spellman 221-256. The complete team win was the most impressive they have ever seen, scoring a team total lower than any WH team prior to them. The victory put their final season record at 8-8 overall, and 6-7 in the league. Senior co-captain Shane Devlin won't soon forget his final play wearing the Panther colors as he turned in a career best 1 under par 33. Sophomore Cole Manning was 1 over par, while junior Josh Kelleher shot a 2 over par. Senior Kyle Reardon, junior Cam Manning, and junior Sam Perkins all had notable performances as well, each shooting a 5 over par 39. When asked how they managed to play so well under the dire circumstances, both Devlin and Kelleher credited their wardrobe without hesitation (Devlin wore his infamous conductor shorts, and Kelleher was in his not-so-subtle pink pants). The team won their final 3 matches of the season to earn their place in the qualifying round of the state tournament, which will be played at Easton Country Club on Tuesday, October 22.
