Season Ends for Girls LAX

The Whitman-Hanson Girls Lacrosse team lost their first round matchup to Sandwich today 16-12. The Panthers showed signs of rust after not having played a game in a week. Sandwich controlled many of the draws early and kept W-H on their heels on their way to a 11-3 halftime lead. The Panthers would not give up and came roaring back in the second half. Senior Marina Kelly did a great job on the draw controls and reversed the trend from the first half. Senior Captains Steph Warn and Steph Hyslip started attacking and didn't let up until the final horn. Warn finished with 6 goals (1 assist) giving her a season total of 80 goals. Hyslip finished with 4 goals (2 assists) to bring her season goal total to 68. Rylee Holmes and Amelia Gould had a goal each to round out the offense. On the defensive end, Lily Higgins and Gabby Majenski made a big difference as they helped slow down Sandwich's offense in the second half. Rachel Kelly also had 5 saves in the second half to slow down Sandwich's attack. Whitman-Hanson's adjustments helped chip away at the 8 goal deficit at the half to get within 2 goals with minutes left in the game. The Panthers gave it everything they had and played as a team until the last horn. They finish the season 13-6.
