Whitman-Hanson volleyball defeats Rockland 3-0

> Whitman-Hanson played Rockland tonight and won 3-0 at home. The game scores were 25-20, 25-20 and 25-20. The two teams played back forth for much of the first set with the lead changing several times. In the end of the first set the Panthers passing was clicking which allowed them to close out the set. In the second set the Panthers got out to an early 8-1 lead thanks to strong serving from co-Captain Rachel Spillane. Rockland was able to climb back into the game with strong serving and lots of passing errors by the Panthers. Once the Panthers settled down they were able to regain the lead and were able to put a few good runs of points together and pulled out the win. In the third set the Panthers played well but found themselves behind by 4 points at 8-12, but thanks to solid passing and good setting from Alyssa Gacicia the Panthers pulled Rockland back in to tie the game at 12-12. Once the Panthers tied the game they never looked back and kept pushing points until they closed the game out at 25-20. Playing well for the Panthers tonight were Leah Pedersen with 8 kills and 1 block; Erin Clifford with 9 kills, 3 aces and 9 digs; and Alyssa Gacicia with 20 assists. The Panthers are now 3-5 and host Bridgewater-Raynham on Friday.
