Whitman-Hanson Varsity Girls Lacrosse

The Whitman-Hanson Varsity Girls Lacrosse season got underway this afternoon for a league game at home vs. North Quincy. The Panthers lost a lot of firepower to graduation last season. Several players picked up the slack and ended up finding the back of the net for the home team. After playing goalie last season, Rachel Kelly lead the way on offense with 4 goals and an assist. Gabby Majenski (3 assits) and Arica McCarthy each had 3 goals to start the season. Rounding out the rest of the offense was Senior Captain Rachel Spillane (2 goals, 3 assists), Rylee Holmes (2 goals), Liz Hyslip (1 goal, 1 assist), and Katie Carpenter (1 goal, 2 assists).  Freshman Alyssa Nicholson had 8 saves in her first Varsity game in goal. North Quincy tried to go on a run late in the game, but Senior Captain Caitlin McCormick lead the Panthers defense to hold on for a 16-12 win (1-0, 1-0 Patriot League).
