WH Girls Volleyball
The Whitman-Hanson Panthers hosted Quincy tonight and lost a well played match 3-0. The game scores were 19-25, 19-25 and 13-25. The Panthers played tough against a well rounded Quincy team that had solid hitters and defense all around. The match started with the girls singing the National Anthem together when the traditional recording wouldn't play! They did a good job hitting all the right notes! In the first set the Panthers were able to play back and forth against Quincy with both teams playing well defensively and offensively. The Panthers took a little bit to get rolling in their first game of the season, but really pulled together and started clicking well as a team. In the second and third sets the Panthers struggled to limit errors on their side of the court which put them into a hole throughout these sets. In the second set the Panthers were able to claw back within a few points in part because of strong serving from Chiara Cassiano that kept Quincy back on their heels. This was a strong showing for the Whitman-Hanson Panthers despite coming away with a loss. Playing well for the Panthers tonight was setter Alyssa Gacicia who had 15 assists and 2 aces. Also, Chiara Cassiano with 6 kills, Madison Scott with 5 kills and Sophie O' Brien with 4 kills and 3 blocks. Whitman-Hanson is now 0-1 and prepares to host Duxbury this coming Wednesday.
