> The Whitman-Hanson Girls Varsity Lacrosse team played a league game against Pembroke at home this afternoon. Pembroke came out firing with a quick goal. After some back and forth and 3 lead changes, the Titans went into halftime with a 7-5 lead. Knowing a win would secure a tournament birth, WH came out with boundless energy in the second half. The Panthers came back to tie it and both teams traded goals until it was 10-10. Kasey Molito had a huge save right before the end of regulation. In overtime, Pembroke won the draw and went right at Molito. She shut them down with her 19th save. In the ensuing fight for the ball Rachel Kelly (2 goals, 2 assists) came up with the ball and went full field for the winning goal. Taylor McVeigh and Mel McAleer (goal) did a great job on the draw all afternoon. Also scoring for the Panthers was Lauren Bonavita ( 4 goals), Gabby Majenski ( 2 goals ), Rylee Holmes ( goal, assist), and Jess Nihan ( goal). The Panthers clinched their tournament birth with the win. They are now 11-9 (5-5 league).
