Baseball and softball are not diversions of quality, but rather of EXPLOSIVE POWER. Exactly how solid do you need to be to get a 5 oz baseball, or a 30 oz bat? Then again, impelling that 5 oz ball 90+ mph, or hitting a ball 400+ feet with that 30 oz bat requires huge force - the capacity to perform work. For this situation, the work of playing baseball and softball at an abnormal state.

After a football game between Yale and Harvard-specifically during the paying of bets-a man from Yale threw a boxing glove at the Harvard grads, one of whom hit the glove with a broom handle-giving rise to the game of softball.See more
