Whitman Hanson Girls soccer

The Whitman Hanson girls' soccer team opened the 2016 season with a 5-2 non-league win over Marshfield. Marshfield opened the scoring just 5 minutes in to the game off a corner. Whitman Hanson quickly responded when Lauren Bonavita dribbled two defenders and fired a shot past the Marshfield keeper. Marshfield went up 2-1 a 20yd shot and Whitman Hanson's Lauren Bonavita came back with a 25yd strike of her own knotting the score at 2-2. With the score tied 2-2 at the half, Whitman Hanson came out in the second half fired up. Taylor Robertson followed up a Taylor Kofton pass (2 assists) and put WH up 3-2. Olivia Johnson finished off a Bonavita corner and Taylor Kofton rounded out the scoring with a penalty shot in to the lower corner. Goalkeeper Skylar Kuzmich made 7 saves in the victory while defenders Sammi Smith, Carly Alexopoulus, Gabby Gately, Betty Blake and Elana Wood prevented any further Marshfield shots. Whitman Hanson opens league play on Friday vs North Quincy.
