Whitman-Hanson loses tough 5 set match to Plymouth North

>
> The Panthers hosted Plymouth North on Wednesday and battled hard but ultimately lost 3 sets to 2. Game scores were 25-6, 22-25, 21-25, 25-18 and 6-15. In the first set the Panthers started out strong with great serving from Giulia Ruzcasio who served for 7 aces in the set and 9 aces overall for the match. The Panthers were solid in their passing game which allowed their hitters to get going for the first time in a few matches. The Panthers were able to limit their mistakes and capitalize on the mistakes made by Plymouth North to take the first set. In the second and third sets the Panthers couldn't get out of their own way and despite some great plays the Panthers mistakes resulted in them losing both sets. The Panthers struggle to keep themselves at a high level when they start making errors and this really hurt them in tonight's match. One mistake led to another and then another. In the fourth set the Panthers were able to rally behind their middle hitters who pushed the team to a victory in the set with their hitting and heads up play at the net. In the deciding the Panthers stumbled from the beginning letting Plymouth North get a lead that never looked back from. Foolish mistakes and sloppy passing kept the Panthers from making a real comeback in the set resulting in the loss of the set and ultimately the match. Playing well for the Panthers tonight were Sophie O'Brien with 14 kills and 4 blocks; Halle Julian with 11 kills and 7 blocks; Tori Perry with 25 assists and 3 aces and Jordyn Keith with 30 successful serve receives and 45 digs. The Panthers move to 1-5 on the season and host Pembroke on Friday.
