Whitman-Hanson volleyball defeats Silver-Lake 3-0

> Whitman-Hanson traveled a short distance down route 27 for a match up with the Silver Lake Lakers. The Panthers of Whitman-Hanson were able to earn a well fought victory over the Lakers 3-0. The game scores were 27-25, 26-24 and 25-22. In the first set the Panthers were led by senior co-captain Sophie O'Brien who earned points for the team both from the service line and hitting out of the middle. The Panthers were able to get out to an early lead however errors in the Panthers defense allowed the Lakers to climb back into the game to take a lead at 18-23 over the Panthers. The Panthers hitters came to life to rally back into the set and were led by Amanda Anderson who hit for two key kills. Senior co-captain Jordyn Keith stepped to the service line and pulled the Panthers ahead only to see the Lakers pull back even at 25-25. Sophie O'Brien was able to get a key block to earn the set victory 27-25.

> In the second set the Panthers got out to an early lead again on the serving of O'Brien who got the Panthers out to a 6-1 lead. Devyn Smith also served tough and played solid defense to help keep the Lakers from getting their offense on track. Halle Julian led the team at the net in the second set with several key blocks and kills to push the Panthers to a victory in the 2nd set.

> In the third and deciding set the Panthers were once again led by their middle hitters and solid defense and serving from Keith. The set went back and forth with each team claiming the lead at different points. Anderson and O'Brien keyed the Panthers at the net with a key block and kill to set up Keith who got a service ace to push the set to game point at 24-21. On the very next play O'Brien sealed the victory with a big block at the net. Playing well for the Panthers tonight were Sophie O'Brien and Halle Julian with 13 kills a piece, Julian also added 9 blocks, Jordyn Keith with 22 digs and Tori Perry who had 25 assists. The Panthers move to 3-5 on the season and host Plymouth South on Wednesday.
