Whitman-Hanson Wrestling




Whitman-Hanson Panther Wrestlers are one win closer to number 500. 

The Whitman-Hanson Panther Wrestling team traveled to North Attleboro on Saturday morning for their opening quad meet.  The panthers were undermanned giving up 5 weight classes in this early season event.
First up for the Panthers was a strong East Providence squad.  Our Panthers wrestled to their ability and lost the meet 66-12.  The second meet was against Division 2 powerhouse North Attleboro, where the final score was NA 53 WH 18.
The third and final match of the day pitted WH vs Pathfinder.  After starting the meet down 18-0 the Panthers won 7 of the remaining 8 bouts to win number 499 of the team history finishing with a score of 42-33.  Standouts for the Panthers were the following. At 113 pounds, senior co-captain Jake Filicicchia won all three of his matches by pinfall.  Senior Alex O'Roak our 182 pound senior also finished the day at 3 wins by pin in a total of 3:31.  Alex was on fire today.
Senior co-captain John Will finished the day at 2 wins and one loss.  Losing a close fought 12-9 match vs East Providence.  The remaining winners for the Panthers with one win each included at 138, Joel McInnis, 152 Kevin Smith, 160 Logan Scriven, 170 Steve Osborn, all of these wins came by pin.
Up next in the pursuit for number 500 wins is Quincy HS at Whitman-Hanson at 6:30 pm on Wednesday December 14th.  The Panthers will also unveil the New individual State Champions Banner at that time.  Five state champions are planning on being in attendance for this event.  You don't want to miss the excitement.
