Whitman – The Panthers hosted Pembroke this afternoon at O'Brien Stadium in a Patriot League match-up that saw WH come out on top 18-11. Aidan McCarthy (4g, 1a) had a break-out performance as he walked away with five points for the day. Senior co-captains Mason Gorman (4g, 2a) and Shane Ross (4g, 2a) combined for 12 total points along with line-mate Ryan Downing (1g, 1a) who put up one and one. Senior attackman Sean Joanis (3g, 1a) chipped in with a quiet hat-trick while sophomore Kyle Hamilton had a goal and three helpers as both players helped pace the offense. Riley White (1g) was the spark that ignited a second half comeback with his tenacious play on ground balls and in transition. White's energy was impressive and infectious for the rest of his squad as the Panthers exploded in the third quarter after they trailed by two following the first half. Mario Troiani had a rough first half giving up 9 goals, but the senior co-captain and net minder bounced back in the second half only to let in two more goals and accumulate 13 saves on the day. Senior co-captain Ryan Trongone (3 forced turnovers) was a beast on defense while Junior Adam Solari dominated the carpet in the second half as he scooped up 10 groundballs. WH is back in action on Thursday when they travel to Plymouth South for another Patriot League bout.
