Whitman-Hanson Regional High School is pleased to announce “Samantha Mewis Night” which will be held on Wednesday October 30th at 6:30pm as the Patriot League champion girls soccer team will host Notre Dame of Hingham. Samantha Mewis, who is our hometown world cup hero, will be inducted into the athletic hall of fame during a halftime ceremony. Samantha could not attend the inductions earlier this month due to her soccer obligations.
Samantha went on to UCLA after graduating from Whitman Hanson where she helped lead the Bruins to a national title in 2014. Of course, our entire country, but especially our two towns, were glued to the TV this past summer when she was a starter on the United States World Cup winning team. In addition, Samantha is a professional soccer player and helped North Carolina win the NWSL title in 2018. She will lead her team into the championship game this Sunday against the Chicago Red Stars.
While at Whitman Hanson, Samantha scored 77 goals including 29 in 2010. She finished her career with 112 points 4th most in school history. In her 4 years as a Panther, the team won all 4 league titles with an astonishing 74-6-4 record. The team won the south sectional title in 2009.
All youth players from both towns will be admitted free as long as they are wearing their team jersey.
Information about the other 10 inductees can be found at www.whathletics.com .
