Ronan Tynan Tickets
From Paralympic Champion to World Stage: Irish Tenor Dr. Ronan Tynan Brings His Inspiring Story to Whitman-Hanson
Benefit Concert to Support Local Student Athletes on February 7, 2026
WHITMAN, MA – When Dr. Ronan Tynan takes the stage at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School on Saturday, February 7th at 7:00 PM, audiences will witness more than just an exceptional musical performance. They'll experience the living embodiment of what determination, resilience, and refusing to accept limitations can achieve – a message that resonates powerfully with the student athletes this benefit concert will support.
When Obstacles Become Opportunities
Tynan's journey from adversity to international acclaim reads like an impossible dream. After losing both legs below the knee at age 20, he didn't retreat – he competed. The young Irishman went on to dominate Paralympic track and field, capturing 18 gold medals and shattering 14 world records. Not satisfied with athletic excellence alone, he became the first disabled person admitted to Ireland's National College of Physical Education, then earned his medical degree in orthopedic sports injuries.
Only after conquering two careers did Tynan pursue his true passion: singing. That decision would lead him to some of the most hallowed stages and historic moments of our time.
A Voice That's Moved Nations
As a founding member of the Irish Tenors, Tynan's powerful tenor has provided the soundtrack to moments of both celebration and mourning for millions. He's sung at state funerals for Presidents Reagan and Bush, offered solace at 9/11 memorial services, and became a beloved presence at the World Series and America's most iconic ballparks. His emotionally charged renditions of "God Bless America" have become the gold standard, while his Irish classics transport listeners across the Atlantic.
Perhaps most touching was his final gift to President George H.W. Bush – singing "Silent Night" at the president's bedside in his final hours, a moment of profound grace and humanity.
An Investment in Young Athletes' Futures
Every dollar raised from this intimate concert experience will directly support Whitman-Hanson's athletic programs, helping local students develop the same qualities that defined Tynan's remarkable life: perseverance, discipline, teamwork, and the courage to overcome any obstacle.
