WH Athletics News

Some congratulations are in order for many Whitman-Hanson student-athletes and teams.
 
1)    The girls Cross Country team defeated Hingham Tuesday by the score of 16-45…and became undefeated league champions for the fifth year in a row.
2)    The boys Cross Country team captured their ninth straight league championship by beating Hingham 23-31.  
3)    The Whitman Hanson girls soccer team clinched their 4th Patriot League Championship and their 7th consecutive league championship by defeating Duxbury 3-1 on Monday night.
 
The following student-athletes have been named as league all-stars
Boys Soccer – Colin McSweeney and Paul Kennedy
Girls Soccer – Alyssa Eaton, Cassie Chernicki, Kelsey Murray, Lauren Clark, Nicole Galewski and Lily Higgins
Girls Cross Country - Rachael Baker, Gianna Cacciatore, Abby Baker, Jenny DiMascio-Donohue, Caroline Mulrey, Casey Egan and Kelsey Tierney
Boys Cross Country – Patrick Ryan, Nathan Stephansky, Patrick Mulrey, Mike Reimer, Dylan Foureau (Honorable Mention)
Golf – Sean Goldman, Mike Capellupo, Eli Norris (Honorable Mention) and Deven Chapman (Honorable Mention)
Volleyball – Brittany Heinricher and Brianna Heinricher (Honorable Mention)
 
The following student-athletes have been named as  Sportsmanship Winners
Boys Soccer – Paul Howland
Girls Soccer – Lily Higgins
Golf – Shane Devlin
Volleyball – Cat Doherty
 
 
WH Athletic Notes:
Due to the weather forecast for Saturday, the soccer doubleheader scheduled with Marshfield has been adjusted.
 
·         The boys will now play at 2pm on Saturday.  The senior day presentation with parents and the Whitman and Hanson youth soccer day will still be held as scheduled.
 
·         The girls will now play at 6pm on Sunday.  The girls will still be holding their Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness fundraising during this contest.  In addition, all senior parents and senior players will be honored before the game.
 
·         The 5 and 2 football team can assure a winning season with  a victory at Quincy tomorrow.  The game time for that is 1pm.
 
·         Tonight is senior night for the girls volleyball team.  Game time is 5pm.
 
·         The boys and girls cross country teams compete today at the Patriot League championships.
 
·         The Panther Cheerleaders will be hosting the league championships Thursday night at 7pm.
