WH Baseball Gets New Coach

For Immediate Release
Whitman – Whitman-Hanson Regional High School announced today the appointment of John Graham as the new varsity baseball coach.

Graham, who has been a volunteer varsity assistant at his alma mater Abington High School since 2005, takes over for Pat Forbes, who retired this February ending a tenure which began in 1986. Graham played minor league baseball in the Red Sox system from 1993-1996 and was named the 10th Player winner for the 1994 Lynchburg squad. He was a two-time Divison III All American at UMASS Dartmouth. He has coached AAU and college baseball as well as high school football and basketball.

“We are very excited to have John on board. Replacing Pat Forbes is a daunting challenge but we are confident that John has the experience, energy and passion for the game of baseball to take the program where we want it to go,” Athletic Director Bob Rodgers said. “John doesn’t do anything halfway and never just goes through the motions. Our student-athletes are in for a memorable and worthwhile experience.”

Pat Forbes guided the Panthers to 5 league titles and coached 3 players who went on to affiliated professional baseball (Dana Levangie, Mike Casey and Brandon Josselyn). In 1990, Forbes led Whitman-Hanson to the South Sectional finals.

The Panthers compete in the Keenan Division of the Patriot League. The game schedule can be found at www.whathletics.blogspot.com .
