heart breaker for golf team

The WH Golf team came within 1 stroke of making school history and defeating the Duxbury Dragons. The final score was 223-224 and literally came down to the last score turned in to decide the contest. Senior co-captain Shane Devlin and sophomore Cole Manning both shot an impressive 1 over par 35 at Ridder Farm Golf Course to get the Panthers off to an early one stroke lead. Junior Cam Manning and senior co-captain Cory Cocchi followed that by shooting 3 over and 5 over respectively, while juniors Sam Perkins and Zach Burke joined Cocchi with 39s. The match was tied until Duxbury's eighth and final golfer turned in a 38 to clinch the 1 stroke victory for the Dragons. The Panthers did, however, make historytoday; they shot a team score of 224, the lowest ever accomplished by any WH Golf team. The loss drops the team record to 3-5 overall, but they hope to win the next two matches to finish the week at .500. They host North Quincy tomorrow.
