Strong Effort For Wrestling Team in Brockton

The Whitman-Hanson Wrestling team travelled to neighboring Brockton Thursday night for a non-league match up against the Boxers. After climbing out to a quick 12-0 team score, care of two quick pins from light weights Kyle Tamulevich (106 lbs.) and Cory Reid (113 lbs), the Panthers dropped the next 4 matches. At that point with the team trailing 22-12 Captain Rob Bunszell pulled out a hard fought 5-1 decison to stop the slide. The next three matches went for the Panthers as well, including an impressive win by pin by sophmore Nate Perkins. With the score at 33-22 in favor of the Panthers they only needed one win in the last four matches to secure a team win. It came in the way of a Cole Berthelette pin to give the Panthers the victory on the night 39-37. W-H travels to Plymouth North this weekend to wrap up the duel meet season facing off against Plymouth North, Natick and Oliver Ames. The wrestlers then prepares for the upcoming sectional tournament and a chance to extend thier season into the state tournamant.
