Volleyball Falls at Home

The Plymouth South Panthers came into Whitman-Hanson and the two teams played hard and fought for every point. Ultimately Plymouth South was able to make the plays at the end of each set to finish out with wins.  Plymouth South won the match 3-0 with game scores of 23-25, 18-25, 23-25.  In the first set Plymouth South got out to an early lead and the Panthers could never regain the lead.  In the second set the Plymouth South Panthers got out to 9-0 lead with good serving from their libero.  The W-H Panthers were making lots of mistakes in serve receive and defense that prevented them from getting their offense going.  With strong play and leadership from co-captain Rachel Spillane the Panthers were able to work their back into the game coming back to tie the set.  Ultimately Plymouth South was able to pull away and finish the set out 18-25 with strong hitting from their middle.  In the third and final set the teams played back and forth but P-S finished with strong hitting and serving.  Playing well for Whitman-Hanson were Sophie O'Brien with 4 kills and 6 blocks; Delaney Smith was strong at the net getting three kills and several key digs; and Rachel Spillane with 3 kills and great leadership on the court by not letting her team quit on any points.  Whitman-Hanson falls to 2-5 on the season and hosts Rockland on Wednesday.
