Whitman-Hanson XC

At today's Eastern Massachusetts Division 3 Championship held at Wrentham, the Whitman Hanson Girls Cross Country Team earned a berth at the State Championship by placing 2nd overall.  Junior phenom Samantha Coletti finished first overall, covering the 5K course in 18:18.  Senior Co-Captain Kelsey Tierney finished 7th with a time of 19:02.  Up and coming Freshman Nicole Norve finished 22nd in 19:46.  Other strong finishers were Senior Co-Captain Caroline Mulrey (28th, 19:50), Abbie Newman (31st, 20:01), and Senior Co-Captain Megan Concannon (36th, 20:14.)

The Girls, who are currently ranked 13th in the State, finished with the 4th best time among all teams in Divisions 1 through 5 in the East.

The Panther Boys were impressive with a 6th place finish, placing well ahead of Patriot League rival Hingham.  Junior Sam Evans led the way, finishing 25th overall in 17:10.  Lukas Moscoso (38th, 17:23) and Senior Captain Patrick Brett (43rd, 17:24) ran stride for stride together, as did Freshman Jack Ryan (55th, 17:35) and Junior Jayson Keenan (63rd, 17:40.)  While the Boys did not qualify to advance to the State Championship, the future looks bright with 4 of its top 5 runners returning next year along with a very talented Freshman class.
