WH Girls Lacrosse

>
> The Whitman-Hanson Girls Varsity Lacrosse team played in Braintree today in the first round of the MIAA tournament. It was a back and forth game for the first half with both teams fighting for every possession. Despite the 10-7 halftime score it was a close initial 25 minutes of play. Braintree capitalized on some WH errors to extend the lead to 14-7 in the beginning of the second half. The Panthers battled back behind hat tricks by Lauren Bonavita and Ali Joanis. Lauren even had a goal as the final buzzer went off, but it did not count as WH lost 18-10. Scoring for the Panthers in their final game was Gabby Majenski (2 goals) and Rylee Holmes (goal, assist). Taylor McVeigh (6 draw controls) and Mel McAleer (goal) also played well at the center position. Kasey Molito had 10 saves in goal. The Panthers enjoyed their best Patriot League record (6-4) in school history. WH also had 4 All Stars this year (Rachel Kelly, Majenski, McVeigh, and Molito) which is also a school first. Great season for a tough, talented team.
