The Whitman Hanson Golf Team picked up their seventh win on the season today at Halifax Country Club, defeating the Silver Lake Lakers 258-260 to improve to 7-6 overall.
Senior captain JP Drier lead the Panthers to victory today with his 5 over par, 41. The team was down by four strokes after the first group came in, but the second pairing of seniors Nick Duffy and Anthony Palmacci were able to cut the lead down to two. After the third groups tied each other, the score remained the same and the Panthers needed a 44 or better from one of the final two spots to win. Senior Tommy Bombardier, golfing in the seven spot, came up huge with his 43 on the day to catapult the team from being down two strokes to winning by two.
The win was a little sweeter for WH, as they were able to avenge their season opening loss by only 8 strokes to the Lakers. Tomorrow they hope to do the same as they welcome Hingham to Ridder Farm.
