WH Girls LAX

The Whitman-Hanson Girls Varsity Lacrosse team lost their first round state tournament game at Notre Dame Academy (Hingham) yesterday 18-3. The first half saw the Cougars come out with incredible speed and skill and proved why they are the #1 seed and favored for a state championship.  NDA went into the break with a double digit lead and never looked back. Despite playing the day after a win vs Nauset, the Panthers were over-matched, but never stopped trying. Anni Putur, Maddi Tassey, Cam Boyce, Gabby Trongone, Sydni Mountcastle and Camille Miller were working hard on defense for 45 of the 50 minute game. Kasey Molito (5 saves) held the last 3 teams that faced her to a 5 goal average, but couldn't stop the shooting talent of NDA. The score does not reflect how hard they worked and how disciplined they were. Lauren Bonavita finished her stellar year with a hat trick and the only goals for WH. The loss puts the Panthers at 10-10 on the season overall. Whitman-Hanson was the definition of resilient this season by winning 6 of their last 7 games to make the tournament and then beating Nauset in the preliminary round by 6 goals despite starting the game in a 3-0 hole.
